10 Minutes with Jill Bernard Today Improv

WHAT AN AMAZING BALL OF FUN IT WAS IMPROVISING “10 Minutes with Jill Bernard!” Thanks to Aree Witoelar for his suggestion of “I think you better skip town.” Stick around afterwards as we talk about that poor guy Alan, the one thing she insists be done if people want to translate her book “Jill Bernard’s Small Cute Book of Improv” into another language, and her awesome new idea “Q + Play” (or is it “Cue + Play?”) Jill is one of the best improvisors and teachers in the world. She is all about the joy in play and spreads that whereever she goes. If a student asks about making a certain move in a scene, she will sing out that Sheryl Crow song “If it makes you happpppppy!” It’s a joy to watch. I first met Jill at Yvonne Landry’s New Orleans Comedy Festival and we immediately hit it off. Her energy is infectious and her brilliant one woman show Drum Machine is a sweepingly epic unscripted musical featuring multiple characters in scenes, monologues and songs accompanied by electronic drum beats or in collaboration with a musician. If you ever get a chance to see it live, do it. It’s mind blowing
